can i deduct mileage for traveling to a separate work location?

i do not own my own business. i’m a teacher so i drive to my school every day. however, this year i will be coaching golf which is at a golf course that i will have to drive to every day. since the golf team is so small the school does not provide transportation. can i deduct the mileage that i have to drive from my regular work location to the golf course and then home again?

You might be able to deduct the mileage from your regular work location to the golf course, but not from the golf course to home. In order to take the deduction you must first itemized deductions (as opposed to taking the standard deduction). Then, only those unreimbursed business expenses (mileage) in excess of 2% of your adjusted gross income can be deducted. You also must keep detailed logs of your miles.

You are not allowed to deduct the mileage to drive from the golf course to home.

You are only allowed to deduct the mileage to go from one work location to another work location.

You are forbidden from deducting the mileage to go from any location to your home.References :
